Seasons Greetings: A Trilogy of Holiday One Acts

Written by Various

Three zany, fun-for-the-whole-family stories to help ring in the holiday season! Join us for three one-acts:

Lights... Camera.. Christmas by Sally Carpenter

The setting is the sound stage of a movie studio. J.D., the director, is making a Christmas film, but her performers don’t understand it. They want to know why she is making "a boring old film about Christmas." "If you want to make money," they tell him, "do something with a lot of car crashes." But J.D. explains that Christmas is about dreams, and all her life she’s dreamed about making people happy with her films. Then Mr. Big, the studio boss, decides to close down the film. At this point, the performers discover what J.D. has been trying to say and join with her to save the picture.

Murray, The Motion Sick Dreidl by Jeff Knapp

Murray and his buddly Shlomo are just a couple of dreidls out to make some Hannukkah mirth, but Murray has a problem... he can't spin!

What Could Go Wrong The Night Before Christmas? by Kim Kao Hines

A host attempts to do a lovely reading of The Night Before Christmas but is stymied by every imaginable interruption.  First, the children show up wearing costumes and outfits for all the wrong holidays, then it ends up the mice might not be stirring, but they sure are shuffling as they play a game of Go Fish.  By the time the clatter on the rooftop sounds more like a deafening rock ’n’ roll drum solo, our poor host is about to have a meltdown!  On top of it all, our not-quite-classic (and definitely thinner) Santa stops filling stockings to do a PSA on the dangers of smoking and also plugs the usefulness of stain remover pens.  In the end, our host finishes the poem, Santa hurries off to make the rest of his deliveries, and we're energized with the fun of the Christmas season.
